Downchild Blues Band

It’s been a while since folks have been able to see live concerts and Juno Award winners, The Legendary Downchild Blues Band are bringing LIVE BLUES back to fans with a ONE-NIGHT-ONLY live in real time PAY-PER VIEW live stream performance at the Empire Theatre with special guests!

Fifty lucky fans will join the band for an exclusive IN-PERSON performance (with full COVID-19 safety protocols in place) in Belleville, alongside blues lovers from around the world watching virtually from their living room in celebration of  the international release of Downchild’s acclaimed 50^th Anniversary release (featuring special guests Dan Aykroyd, Paul Shaffer, David Wilcox, Kenny Neal, Gene Taylor & Erja Lyytinen) on October 16, 2020.

The band will be performing songs from their 50^th Anniversary album, as well as requests from fans for this special show and there will be a few surprises too.

Jane Vasey Memorial Scholarship Fund

Donnie Walsh was instrumental in the founding of the Jane Vasey Memorial Scholarship fund at Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba. The fund was co–founded by Vasey’s late parents (Dorothy and Ross) and Downchild Blues Band in 1983 to sponsor keyboards students in the Brandon University (alma mater of Vasey) school of music.

Each year 2 scholarships in the amount of $2,500.00 have been awarded. The fund has grown to the amount of $80,000.00. Downchild continues to fund scholarships through benefit performances. The benefit amount is doubled thanks to a  special program sponsored by the Government of Manitoba.
