After Rave Reviews and countless sold out performances during our two week run at the Tweed Pavilion this past summer, Tweed & Company is ecstatic to announce that HASTINGS! A NEW MUSICAL will be touring regional theatres in the summer of 2018! This hilarious, foot stomping irreverent retelling of the History of Hastings County is sure to once again be the entertainment highlight of the season! Written by the Tweed & Company Ensemble with the assistance of the Hastings County Historical Society, this show features music from several up and coming and established Canadian composers, coming to us from the Stratford Festival, The Second City, and with major Toronto credits, and some of them originally from right here in Hastings County! Hastings features a cast of nine incredible performers, all of whom also play the instruments and create a stunning live band on stage. The beautiful rustic set, costumes, and unique and exciting staging complete this theatrical experience. Don’t miss this incredible Musical in its encore presentation! See the musical that INSIDE BELLEVILLE calls “An extraordinary panorama of song, dance and Hastings County history”, that CENTRAL HASTINGS NEWS says is “Incredible, it deserves to be re-staged throughout Hastings County” That ONTARIO’S HIGHLANDS TOURISM hails “A truly remarkable show! I would see it ten times over if I could” that THE TWEED NEWS Says is “Simply fantastic”, and THE HASTINGS COUNTY WANDERER claims “It was hands down the most memorable theatre performance I have seen to date. The Storytelling…The Musicianship… The Humour: I honestly have not laughed that hard in quite some time. So go, now, quickly.” Don’t miss this incredible Musical at one of it’s three touring venues, The Village Playhouse in Bancroft, The Studio Theatre in Perth, or The Empire Theatre in Belleville.

TOM COCHRANE

After Iconic musician Tom Cochrane’s early beginnings as a folk-based singer/songwriter playing the coffeehouses of Toronto’s famed Yorkville scene in the early ’70s, Tom became the driving force with the adventurous rockers Red Rider prior to achieving massive international success (over 3 million units world wide and rare diamond-sales status at home) with the breakthrough 1991 album Mad Mad World and its anthemic hit Life Is A Highway, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year! With his other recordings combined he has sold over 6 million world wide. Over the course of this long and illustrious career, now spanning more than 40 years, the pride of Lynn Lake, Manitoba has covered more terrain than the Franklin expedition.

He has continued to create potent new material (5 more recordings and several separate single releases since Mad Mad World ) while cementing his place in the hearts of Canadians through passionate crowd-pleasing performances from coast to coast and his unwavering work on behalf of humanitarian causes and organizations. An Officer of the Order of Canada recipient and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee, Cochrane has won eight Juno awards and numerous other industry honors, including the 2013 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award and a Grammy nomination.

RANDY BACHMAN

Randy Bachman stands in rarified air as a member of a very exclusive club of recording artists who topped the charts with two different bands: “American Woman” with The Guess Who and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” as leader and singer with Bachman‐Turner Overdrive. It’s a club with precious few members. In a career spanning five decades and earning a staggering 120 platinum, gold and silver record awards, Randy’s record sales figures exceed 40 million. His distinctive brand of no‐holds‐barred, guitar‐driven rock is instantly recognizable worldwide. As host of the top‐rated CBC and Sirius XM radio program Randy Bachman’s Vinyl Tap, his listeners worldwide number in the millions each week, earning him the title as Canada’s favourite storyteller.

Now, in addition to his ever‐popular songs and the stories behind them, Randy brings to the stage an exciting production honouring the remarkable musical legacy of early mentor, hero and inspiration, Beatles guitarist/songwriter George Harrison. From one master musician to another, Randy offers his own uniquely personal interpretations of Harrison’s best‐known songs in an extraordinary concert experience that you won’t want to miss.

Price:  $39.00 + HST + TFSF

One of the most famed Canadian songwriters, Jimmy Rankin wrote such classic Rankin hits as “North Country,” “You Feel The Same Way Too,” and the Juno winning single “Fare Thee Well Love,” voted the #1 East Coast song of all time by CBC listeners across Canada. His own hits include “Followed Her Around,” “Morning Bound Train,” and “Cool Car.” One of the true originals in Canadian music has moved from Nashville to Nova Scotia, and is celebrating with music only he could make. Jimmy Rankin’s new Moving East is pure East Coast, a homecoming album featuring true stories, tall tales and bittersweet ballads, and the classic folk-rock sound that Rankin helped pioneer. Just at a time when people are searching out authentic cultural voices, strong stories and well-crafted songs, Rankin has made an unapologetically East Coast folk-rock record, (Produced by fellow Nova Scotian, Joel Plaskett), with a raw, unsentimental and current edge. “I’m putting the party back in the kitchen” quips Rankin.

PL 2:  $34.02 including HST + TFSF

Canadian pop wunderkind Shawn Hook made his US debut in the late ’00s on the soundtracks of popular TV shows like Kyle XY and The Hills, but it wasn’t until 2015 that he scored his first stateside chart hit with “Sound of Your Heart.” Since then Hook has been busy – he signed with US label Hollywood Records later that year, and in 2016 he generated major buzz with the racy video for his single “Relapse.” In concert Hook is the real deal, melting hearts with his sultry croon and showing off his conservatory background on the piano while his backing band dials in impressive performances on bass, drums, and guitar. With his killer voice, spiffy style, and knack for heart-rending balladry, Shawn Hook is a serious pop force to be reckoned with, and he wins over legions of new fans every time he performs.

Liona Boyd

Friday, November 2 @ 7:30 p.m.

Price:  $47.50 + TFSF

Liona Boyd, since her 1975 debut performance at Carnegie Hall, New York, has enthralled audiences worldwide with her romantic and unique brand of classical, folk and world music. Tracing the timeline—Spanish-British heritage, emigrating to Canada in 1959, “falling in love with classical guitar at the age of 13”, graduating from the University of Toronto with a music degree in 1972—the traditional classical music path seemed quite clear. However, Liona embarked on a far more adventurous journey. In addition to her solo career, she began touring with and opening for Canadian folk legend, Gordon Lightfoot.  She went on to perform and record with many artists of diverse genres, a small sampling of whom include Chet Atkins, Canadian Brass, Eric Clapton, Olivia Newton-John, Yo Yo Ma and Al Di Meola. Also spanning a wide range of styles, Liona has released 28 studio, live or compilation albums, five of which went gold, and three platinum. No stranger to awards and accolades, her highlights include five Junos, the Order of Canada, five honorary doctorates and, in June 2018, the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award from the JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition.

“Exceptional sensitivity and an impressive sense of dedication” – Los Angeles Times

“Nothing short of fantastic. Liona takes one’s breath away.” – Denver Post

“A quiet poetic brilliance” – The Plain Dealer, Cleveland

Following her 2009 diagnosis of focal dystonia, Liona tweaked her playing style, added singing to her repertoire and two years ago began touring with protege, Andrew Dolson, classically trained in both guitar and voice. Audiences can anticipate solo and duet classical guitar pieces, songs—both familiar and new, personal anecdotes from a storied career … all delivered with charm, humour and grace.

Don’t miss An Intimate Evening with ‘the first lady of guitar’ … Liona Boyd!
